Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day fabric softener softens fabrics and reduces static with plant-derived ingredients, natural essential oils, and glycerin. Our certified cruelty-free formula contains no parabens, phthalates or formaldehyde. each 32 oz. bottle of fabric softener can do thirty-two loads of laundry.
Machine washing puts great mechanical stress on textiles, particularly natural fibers such as cotton and wool. The fibers at the fabric surface are squashed and frayed, and this condition hardens while drying the laundry in air, giving the laundry a harsh feel. Adding a liquid fabric softener to the final rinse results in laundry that feels softer.
Mrs. Meyer's features hard-working yet gentle softening agents, while also providing a special, singular scent for your entire home. Lemon verbena scented fabric softener has a light, refreshingly mild citrus fragrance. This tender herb blossoms in early summer and smells bright and new.
All you need is half a capful of Mrs. Meyer's Softener in your rinse cycle to make your clothes smell fresh, feel fluffy and soft, reduce unsightly static cling and, best of all, make ironing easier. Our formula contains softening ingredients from plant-derived sources, essential oils, garden-inspired scents, and other thoughtfully chosen ingredients.
How do fabric softeners work?
Fabric softeners coat the surface of a fabric with compounds that are electrically charged, causing threads to "stand up" from the surface and thereby imparting a softer and fluffier texture. They also impart antistatic properties to fabrics, and thus prevent the build-up of electrostatic charges on synthetic fibers, which in turn eliminates fabric cling during handling and wearing, crackling noises, and dust attraction.
They also make fabrics easier to iron and help reduce wrinkles in garments. In addition, they reduce drying times so that energy is saved when softened laundry is tumble-dried.
People usually associate lavender with two specific traits: its fragrance and its color. But you may not know that the lavender flower and the oil derived from it have long histories in herbal medicine.
Lavender used to be a bath additive in several regions, including Persia, ancient Greece, and Rome. These cultures believed that lavender helped purify the body and mind.
Lavender is most commonly used in aromatherapy. The fragrance from the oils of the lavender plant is believed to help promote calmness and wellness. It’s also said to help reduce stress, anxiety, and possibly even mild pain. A study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary MedicineTrusted Source found that topically applying lavender, plus sage and rose, could reduce the severity of menstrual cramps.
Today, aromatherapists use lavender to treat headaches and nervousness or restlessness. Massage therapists sometimes apply lavender oil to the skin, which might function both as a calming agent and a sleep aid. In Germany, lavender tea has been approved as a supplement to treat sleep disruptions, restlessness, and stomach irritation.
While many people swear by its aromatic healing powers, the scientific community is not so sure. Many of the tests conducted around lavender have had conflicting results.
